Hi! I’m Eileen!

For me, painting and gardening, or just being in nature, take me to the same peaceful place. I think that is why the world of botanicals finds it’s way into my painting.

About Eileen

Born in Santa Monica, California, Eileen McCleary is the eldest of seven children, a role that no doubt shaped her nurturing and creative spirit. Her artistic journey was influenced early on by her family, notably her brother Dan McCleary, a recognized artist himself, and their father, who also embraced the arts. Eileen fondly recalls her childhood filled with gallery visits, an experience she shared with her siblings under their father’s guidance.

Eileen’s path took a different turn when she graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Maryland in 1971. However, her passion for art remained steadfast throughout her nursing career, from which she is now retired.

She further honed her art skills at the University of The Incarnate Word and the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts, both in San Antonio, Texas, where she now resides. Her medium of choice is watercolors, and she actively participates in the San Antonio Watercolor group, demonstrating her commitment to both her craft and her community.

Eileen is captivated by the unique beauty of San Antonio. Her connection to the community extends beyond her art. In both her professional and artistic endeavors, she continues to touch lives, drawing on the deep well of inspiration that surrounds her.

Her life is further enriched by her life partner, two grown children and three grandchildren, whose smiles light up her life. Her family and dear friends are also an important source of joy and support. Eileen’s heartfelt sentiment, “I am so blessed!” reflects the joy and gratitude she finds in these relationships.

Visitors to Eileen’s home quickly learn of another of her passions–gardening.  The world of botanicals deeply influences her artwork, and she draws endless inspiration from its limitless possibilities.
